Swimmer

Growing up I was always on the swim team and playing softball until my hormones kicked in and a typical teenager had other other priorities. Fast forward to my twenties, Roller Derby became my new passion. It was then a teammate introduced me to relay triathlons! Since then my goal was to do each event, one day maybe do all. I love not only being part of a team but having someone there when you need that extra push. Pass that baton, I got you!

Cyclist

My name is Marisa and I like piña coladas, and getting caught in the rain. But really, I like riding my bike. I started cycling with a vintage steel frame a size (or two) too big for me with downtube shifters. I learned how to clip into clipless pedals while riding up Glendora Mountain Road by falling over so many times up that mountain that I nearly threw my bike off the cliff. So often does the bike take me to the edge of my abilities that it feels impossible, but then I keep going. Those challenges are why I ride, why I love cycling. Riding a bike has given me so many great experiences, life-long friends, and new opportunities.

I have never participated in a relay, or a team event. This is exciting and unknown territory for me and I look forward to building strong ties with some amazing individuals and contributing everything I can for the success of my team.

Runner

Susan is a single mom of two boys, and an age group triathlete, so her training schedule can be wild and creative. She’s raced sprint, Olympic, and 70.3 distances on her own and for teams such as Fox Triathlon, Disney Triathlon, Team in Training IronTeam 2020, TriSirena, and EnergyLab Apparel. Susan loves the individuality of triathlon, being out on the course competing against yourself as much as she loves racing with teammates. She works in tv marketing, loves podcasts, and is proud to be a part of a progressive Jewish community in Los Angeles.
